Life Update, Stream of Consciousness Style

Well, this is going to be short, unfortunately.  I need to get to bed.

Governor's School starts in less than 12 hours. That's really exciting, yet really nerve-wracking. It's SO hard to believe that this time two days ago, SO LITTLE had been done. (or at least, seemingly so little.)  I'm pretty sure that puts the MGS staff and whatnot in a negative light, but it's the truth. On the flip side, we all worked our ASSES off to get stuff done, and we did! It's pretty amazing. Once everyone got here (I've been here for a while, but one person can't do a whole lot by himself/herself.), things panned out. We still have to do the dinner theater, though (MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON OUR SOULS WITH THAT ONE).

I'm exhausted, and MGS hasn't even started yet.

I'm also Harry Potter, apparently. Our hall theme is Harry Potter, and each of the four floors represent one of the houses in Harry Potter. My halls (1 and 3) are Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, respectively. The second and fourth floors are Slytherin and Hufflepuff, respectively.  LT (the other male RA) assigned the staff actual characters. Sean (Head Male RA) is Dumbledore. LT is Snape, but he should have been Hagrid. Look him up on facebook (LaTerence Varnado) - just don't creep too much. Harrison is Sirius and Hayden is Ron (Hayden's my RAT and Harrison is LT's). And I'm Harry. Not my doing, promise. Just saying.

I'm nervous because I have so much to do this session. Being an RA is a full-time sort of thing, but I'm also a leadership course facilitator and in charge of ALL of Recreation. It's intense.

Anyway. I'm gonna go to bed. Gotta get up and do more stuff before the scholars get here.

McCoy out (I think I'm gonna keep saying that)

P.S. - I miss Claire Reid, Shaw Adcock, Kim Krapcha and Stephanie Doty LOTS. (I dunno if any of them will read this, though. Oh well.)

For Claire

My sister, Claire Reid, wants me to update my blog. I really should, but unfortunately...

I'm so tired right now. Things have gotten very busy.  That being said, this won't be very long or very informative.

I'm Columbus right now (as I have been since Saturday, June 28th), at the Mississippi University for Women.  I'm staying in Columbus Hall ALL BY MYSELF, as no other male Governor's School staff have arrived (and reasonably so, seeing as how they aren't needed here until a few days from now.  Anyway. This dorm is haunted, or so I believe.  HEY NOW. BEFORE YOU CALL ME CRAZY, I KNOW THAT I'VE HEARD DOORS SLAM.

Anyway. I'm gonna be working on Governor's School stuff from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then moving into my  stuff from my old apartment to my new apartment in Starkville in the evenings...from now until about Friday.

Um. Yeah. I have to go now though. I need to decide whether I wanna work on MGS stuff or go to sleep. One HAS to happen soon. (This is what's GONNA happen: I'm gonna TRY to work on stuff, then get REALLY sleepy. Just wait.)

McCoy out.

Got Sued?

I got a comment on my first post from Jerome Bixby (even though he's been dead for thirteen years) saying he'll see me in court. Although he's dead (and obviously joking, by the way), I think now's a good time to point out how I came up with the name of my blog.  Ghost Jerome is correct; I got the idea from the film The Man From Earth (which, by the way, is an AMAZING film and everyone should see it immediately after reading this).  I won't give the plot of the film away, but I just wanted to say that I got the name of my blog from that.

Mainly because I couldn't think of anything better; "Martin's Blog" sounded stupid, obviously.

Also, now that's said, I want to let everyone know why I started blogging. I'll be going to Quebec in July, and I really wanted to blog about my trip.  So, to get in the habit of blogging (even though the word "blogging" for some reason makes me cringe), I made a general one to use before my trip.

So there you have it.  The explanation of the name and the purpose of the blog.

P.S. - RIP Jerome Bixby

First Post

Alrighty. First post.

This is just going to be a test run, so to speak. I haven't blogged about anything in MANY years.

I'm hoping if you're reading this, you already know who I am. If not, however, that's fine by me. I've made this open to the public on purpose. Anybody who is interested/curious/bored enough to read what I have to say is more than welcome to do so.

First posts are supposed to be lame, right?
